Snowflakes are the subject of many legends, proverbs, and symbols across cultures and even weather divination. The small snowflakes were considered a sign of colder conditions, which would lead to a greater amount of accumulation. The myth that no two snowflakes are ever alike was debunked when a scientist in Wisconsin located two identical crystals during a storm in 1988. While snowflakes might not be as unique as we once believed, there is a Zen proverb that reminds us:


A snowflake never falls in the wrong place.
